Today we will be looking at the Katana III CPU cooler from Scythe. Offered as a low cost cooling solution in the 30USD range, the Katana III is a 3 heat pipe cooler supporting a large range of CPU types. Katana III is that it supports almost every popular CPU socket currently in use. Support is included for Intel LGA1156 and LGA1366, as well support for all AMD sockets including AM3. The Intel LGA775 and older 478 platforms are also supported by the Katana III.

Packaging
The Katana III is packaged in a colourful cardboard box containing product illustrations and specifications. We also we noted a number of Japanese symbols which ties the name of the cooler in with Katana, a curved Japanese broadsword. Within the outer packaging we find the Katana III and also a smaller cardboard insert containing the included accessories.
The accessories include the instruction manual, adapter brackets and a package of supplied heatsink compound.
